ASPHODEL Lion's Mane is a lion's mane supplement made from Hericium erinaceus, the cascading white mushroom long valued in East Asian cooking. We designed it for people who want a simple, transparent mushroom product in their daily routine.
Few mushrooms are as instantly recognisable as lion's mane. Instead of a cap and gills, it grows as a cascade of soft, icicle-like spines on hardwood trees. That form gave it names like 'bearded tooth' and, in Japan, yamabushitake. Fresh, it is a prized culinary mushroom with a delicate texture that cooks often compare to seafood.
Not every lion's mane supplement is made the same way. Some products use the fruiting body, some use mycelium grown on grain, and some combine both. The extraction method also changes which compounds end up in the final product. For that reason, we list the source material, the extraction method and the amount per serving from verified supplier documentation.
Researchers are interested in two groups of compounds in lion's mane, hericenones and erinacines. However, much of this research is still at an early stage, so we do not make health claims about it.
Follow the directions on the label. If you are pregnant, nursing, taking medication or managing a health condition, speak with a qualified healthcare professional before use. As with any mushroom, avoid it if you have a known mushroom allergy.
