ASPHODEL Reishi is a reishi supplement inspired by lingzhi, the lacquered mushroom that traditional Chinese practice has revered for centuries. We designed it to bring that tradition into a simple daily or evening ritual.
With its glossy, kidney-shaped cap, reishi is one of the most recognisable mushrooms in the world. In China it is called lingzhi, and it appears in traditional texts and art dating back roughly two thousand years. In the wild it grows as a woody shelf on hardwood trees, and today growers cultivate it widely.
Reishi is woody and bitter rather than culinary, so people traditionally sliced it and simmered it for hours as a tea. Modern products usually rely on hot-water or dual extraction instead. Some are standardised for polysaccharides or triterpenes, the two groups of compounds that researchers study most. When you compare any reishi supplement, look for the species, the part used and the extraction method.
Sellers market several Ganoderma species as reishi. For that reason, we will name the exact species and source once our supplier confirms them.
